Importing your existing data

Bring your client list over from a spreadsheet — Niti matches the columns for you.

Updated

If your client list currently lives in a spreadsheet, you don't have to retype it. Import Data takes a CSV or Excel file and maps your columns onto Niti's fields.

Upload the file

Go to /import and choose What are you importing? Leave it on Let AI detect (recommended) and Niti works it out from your columns, or pick the type yourself.

Then drop in the file. CSV, XLSX and XLS, up to 20 MB or 500 rows. Split anything bigger into batches.

Click Upload & Preview Mapping.

Review the mapping

Nothing is imported yet. Review Column Mapping shows a row per column in your file with:

  • Your file column — the header as you wrote it.
  • Maps to our field — a dropdown, pre-selected with Niti's best guess.
  • Sample values — real values from your file, so you can see what's actually in that column.

Change anything that's wrong, or set a column to — skip this column — to ignore it.

What if my names are split across two columns?

You don't need to reshape your spreadsheet first. If your file splits data across columns that belong to one field, map them all to the same field and Niti joins them.

The common case is First Name and Last Name: point both at name, and the preview shows a Name (merged) column with Ravi Perera rather than two half-names. The same works for a city and country pair mapping onto a single location.

Below the mapping table, Sample rows as they will be imported shows the first three rows exactly as they'll land. Read that before confirming — it's the honest preview.

Confirm

Confirm & Import runs it, and the summary reports Records imported and Rows skipped. From there, View Clients or Import More.

Skipped rows are usually missing a required field — for clients, that's a name.

Tips

  • Do a test run with five rows first. Import is quick to repeat and much easier than unpicking 400 bad records.
  • Multiple emails or phone numbers go in one cell separated by semicolons.
  • One data type per file. If your spreadsheet mixes clients and suppliers, split it into separate files first.
